Description:

Soliant Energy is seeking a Quality Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the effectiveness and quality at our component suppliers and contract manufacturers as well as within our captive plant. This includes establishing strong relationships with all suppliers to keep them aligned with strategic quality objectives, support value engineering initiatives, continuously and proactively improve both supplier and plant quality, and respond to any customer quality issues. As the manager, you will build and lead a small team of supplier quality engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a team of supplier quality engineers and inspectors
  • Perform supplier and internal audits, ensuring best practices in manufacturing processes and process control
  • Develop supplier score cards to effectively asses the capability and performance of all existing and potential supply partners and regularly report on such performance
  • Interface with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and purchasing staff to ensure that quality performance is considered in all design and business decisions.
  • Develop and oversee the quality management system, including processes, procedures, and documentation
  • Manage MRB process on consigned inventories and sub assemblies at contract manufacturers
  • Develop, manage, and define receiving inspection and in-process control plan practices within our captive plant
  • Manage root cause analysis on all field returns
  • Manage corrective action planning and implementation with production and suppliers
  • Manage continuous improvement management of the quality systems
  • Defines, specifies, and/or approves the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of products
  • Assist supplier in establishing process and inspection standards to meet the company's quality requirements
  • Responsible for determining failure modes of defective material including documentation of failures, cause of failures and identification of corrective action

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 7 years experience in quality management
  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field
  • Strong background in statistical techniques, measurement tools, SPC, FMEA, and auditing practices
  • Experience managing both domestic and overseas suppliers
  • Experience in automobile, semiconductor, or industrial electromechanical assembly manufacturing
  • In depth knowledge and experience with high volume custom mechanical products
  • In-depth knowledge about manufacturing processes of mechanical and electronic components
  • Knowledge of standard quality management systems (ISO9001, ISO140001, TS16949, etc)
  • Travel (extended at times) required both domestically and internationally
  • Strong decision making skills
